MIRAR LA MENTE

“Uruguayan scientists and artists look together at the most mysterious of processes”, edited by @casaeditorialhum is available in bookstores.

Art and science share purposes: to broaden the scope of human experience, to expand our sense of reality, to make what appears to us alien more our own, to interpret the world through models.
In this book, that community of interest becomes action taken together. It is an experiment in which neuroscientists and artists meet, collaborate and try to make visible some of the processes that characterize our minds: memory, pattern recognition, the construction of a navigable map of what surrounds us, language, the sense of time.

Through dialogues and projects elaborated from these exchanges, the topic that the conversation addresses extends beyond neuroscience and art, and enters fully into the human condition.

What does it mean to see, dream, move and understand what surrounds us?

Those gifts manifest in the dialogues as material processes that cannot be understood through introspection or everyday experience alone. Art and science make it possible to unfold them in all their rich fabric, explore them from within and suggest new perspectives.

Lastly, this project also makes it possible to attend the kind of dialogue that Uruguayans engage in at a coffee table, in workshops and in laboratories.
